Lack of charging infrastructure might be the biggest thing holding back EVs. In most parts of the US, people consistently claim that they are waiting for more high-powered public charging stations that replicate the current gas station model. This, unfortunately, isn’t the best solution for EVs as the way they consume and re-fill energy is more closely related to a smartphone rather than a typical gas-powered vehicle, so the question remains: Do we already have the infrastructure that we need?

EV charging at apartments can be difficult and expensive, however, by choosing the right solution and provider, building owners can not only attract and retain residents but also open up brand new revenue sources as well. 

Many believe that the key to solving EV adoption is to build out a nationwide fast-charging network similar to gas stations. While this solves some issues, its not the best solution for everyday driving needs and apartment owners should look elsewhere to handle their charging needs.

Electric vehicles have always needed a public charging network just not for everyday driving, far more important is getting drivers access to charging at home making charging a convenience rather than a chore.

One major barrier to entry is about to fall now that EVs are cost comparative to gas vehicles but the other major barrier to entry, access to affordable charging remains for a large number of individuals. While most assume a large national public charging network is what’s needed, in actuality what we need even more is affordable charging at homes. 

Electric vehicles have been saddled with some pretty big myths over the past decade, they can't be long-distance, they pollute more, and they are more expensive to repair, all of which have been proven time and again as false. However, studies now show that EVs are actually cheaper to own than a gas-powered alternative.

The Level 1 charging station has often gotten a bad reputation as being too slow to be useful for electric vehicle charging, mostly because it cannot put hundreds of miles back on your battery overnight. However, these oft-forgotten stations are the backbone of the electric vehicle industry and could be the key to unlocking EV ownership for everyone

EV ownership has a lot of perks. Lower fuel and maintenance costs, carpool lane access (in some states), preferred parking at shopping centers, cutting down on your overall carbon footprint, and being able to "fill up" at home (having a charger at home means one less errand to run). However, if you're one of the 75 million Americans living in an apartment or condo there are a few things you'll need to do in order to ensure you get EV charging at home easily and affordably.

Electric Vehicles are here to stay, however, while these cars have found a permanent place in our society many questions still linger on how we are going to achieve widespread adoption of these vehicles. The common talking point among many is that more public charging is needed, but in reality, we need to rethink how our vehicles should fuel up to begin with.

As more decide to switch to EVs there is a growing need for charging stations. However, what options individuals have and what is the best option are not always clear. Furthermore, how much each driver can save by switching is also fairly dependent on the situation.
